Welcome to my
website,
May you have a truly happy New Year this year and always! I say truly
happy because we usually settle for the temporary type of happiness
that isn’t real or lasting. We all pursue happiness in our own unique
way, but few find, if ever, true and lasting happiness. Certainly we
have all felt “happy” when everything goes our way—we get the job, the
mate, the recognition we seek. Need fulfillment happiness is never
lasting and ultimately leads to disappointment or a fear of loosing
what we have gained or achieved.
So what is the true happiness we desire when we say the cliché
Happy New Year? True happiness is a deep feeling of contentment, joy,
peace love and gratitude that is un-conditional. That is, it is not
based on some external, temporary circumstance, person or possession.
It is rooted deep within our own true Self. True happiness is actually
our default setting—our birthright, our divine inheritance.
So why is true happiness so illusive? Simple—we are looking for it in
the wrong place—in a “perfect body”, enough money, love, respect and
success—on the outside. Most of us seek happiness by listening to our
mind—our beliefs, expectations, and our thoughts rather than to the
wisdom and simplicity of our hearts.
My advice: give up making New Year’s resolutions and the inevitable
failure and disappointment that comes with them. Instead look within
your own heart to the wisdom that will guide you home to your Self,
that holds all the treasures that your heart desires.
In my website you will find many articles, interviews, books, DVDs and
tapes and links to help you in your journey to find true happiness and
the secret to a Happy New Year.
In the new year I look forward to the release of a new book in April
2010 that I contributed a chapter to called “True Love” in “
Creating a Marriage You’ll Love”
(Sellers Publishing). I will be joining John Grey, Harriet Lerner, Gay
Hendricks, Kris Carlson, Mike Robbins and other collaborators on this
helpful new book for couples and newlyweds. The new Japanese
translation of
Slowing Down to the
Speed of Life will also be available sometime this year. Lastly,
I just had an article published in
Fly Rod and Reel magazine about
Dr. George Patterson and my
Fly Fishing
for the Mind seminars.
Go to the news section of this
website for other new materials, programs and trainings.
Have a truly Happy New Year!
