Welcome and
Happy Spring!
Why am I so afraid? How do I slow down and enjoy life? How to I balance
all the demands of work, home and my personal well-being? How do I feel
safe and secure in a world filled with so much uncertainty and changes?
If you have any of these questions in your mind and heart then you have
come to the right website. On my website you will find many of the
answers to these and many other questions that concern us in the modern
world.
As you browse the website you will find articles on these topics,
excerpts from my books, recent interviews with me on radio and TV and
my blog. I also have a calendar of events that features my current
speaking schedule and media interviews with links to more information
on how to tune in or attend.
Spring in Minnesota is an explosion of life after the dormant stillness
of winter. The birds serenade us with their mating calls. The air is
filled with smells of the blossoms of the apple trees and the clean
spring rains. The first flowers are peaking out of the earth—the
crocus, the daffodils and the tulips. Soon the lilacs will intoxicate
us with their sweet fragrances.
What I like about the changes of seasons is that every change demands
more of our attention—our presence. The beauty tempts us away from our
busy thoughts and doing to rest in the smells, sounds and visual beauty
of spring.
This world was invisible to me much of my life. I was too
preoccupied with my agendas, to-do lists and worries to be able to be
present. I lived in the future and the past—rarely in the present
moment. Now it is the most important part of my life—to remain in the
ever-present moment and to trust that from there I will be more
productive, more creative and enjoy each task of the day.
Spring is a time for lots of new life, mine included. Here are a few
examples of some new books, talks and interviews:
NEW
BOOK! Creating a Marriage
You’ll Love is
a compilation of relationship authors' essays on marriage, including
mine called, "True Love." This book is intended as a gift book for
newly weds, anniversaries and anyone wanting to learn more about
relationships in a positive way versus a way to fix a broken
relationship. All the proceeds of this book will be contributed to
organizations that prevent and treat family violence.
I will also be doing a series of talks and book signings on this book
and my previous book,
Fearproof Your
Life in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Chicago and Menomenie, Wisconsin.
My colleague Dr. George Patterson will be in Chicago to present a talk
and slideshow on our Fly Fishing for the Mind Seminars at Trout
Unlimited and the Chicago Anglers Club. On April 23, I will be doing a
one day workshop on Transformational Recovery to the Minnesota
Addiction Counselors (MAARCH) spring meeting. Lastly, check out our
next Fly Fishing for the Mind seminar in Alaska at
www.flyfishingseminars.com.
Happy Spring,
Joe
